Went back to my origins today. the Peavine Strawberry Festival, in it's 63rd year. It's changed a bit over the years, but not as much as the people who watch it. I saw thousands of people, none of whom I recognized. Most of the people I grew up with have moved out of Peavine. Either that or they stay locked in their homes on festival day.

We arrived just in time to see the politicians and the horses at the end of the parade. It was just a few years into the festival parades that they figured out that the horses should bring up the rear of the parade. Horses aren't ashamed of leaving evidence of their passing and the floats rolling over the horse poop would release a mighty odor. For obvious reasons the politicians and politician-wannabes riding in their convertibles were placed as near the end, just before the horses, as was possible. Some have argued that they should follow the horses. Why should the horses, which have done no one any harm, be forced to follow the politicians? I suggest the bankers and TV preachers be back there too.

A Threat to Our Species

The article here is alarming. I've run into a number of these creatures on the expressway but now they've gone too far! This is one situation where profiling is needed.
